ahah, using fast lenses. Tahniah.

Have you thought of de-emphasizing the stars a bit? looking at star rich areas makes me giddy grin

BTW I have a Nikon 85mm f1.4 D AF from my portrait shooting days. How to adapt to Canon DSLR and where to purchase the adapter locally.

cheers

Shah, yes, autoguided. Now a bit lazy to use eye as "guider" already tongue grin

mymoon, actually I would like to de-emphasizing those stars...just that my processing skill still cannot do this...any idea?

BTW, the 85mm lens is actually f/1.8...not f/1.4 as stated in the picture.
About the Nikon lens to Canon body adapter, you may find StarField Instruments Supply (previously Stargazer) or go to Digicolor at Mutiara Complex to look for it. Mine one buy from China.

when taking portraits it is sometimes better to use a less sharp lense; less offensive details(less pimple scars etc....). I prefer the 80-400VR or the 18-200 VR rather than the 85mm f1.4 for potraiture .

Compare your two pictures of rho Ophiuchus. If crop to same FOV the sigma lense is preferred being easier on the eye. grin

BTW my experience in  astrophotography is limited. So I would not know whether other factors such as the doubling(lebeh kurang) in exposure time(after allowing for lense aperture)makes a difference. huh

As to using software I stand guided lah.

cheers

Meleleh air liur tengok gambar2 ni. Mmg cun la Mr Universe. Somehow apa yang u ckp pasal cheap lenses terbukti kat sini, creates more pleasing picture la. The Canon 85mm creates very vibrant picture but the sigma gives balance. But my personally preference, i love the vibrant colors produced by the 85mm  grin

Gambar-gambar scenery pun cantik!

Marvelous!

Suka the first one. Really clear Milky Way. Less artificial lighting. Superb fisheye 180 deg opening.
