My exposure of the night sky was through his TV series which does not demand brain power.

I guess I never heard of him. But if he has managed to intrigued you in any way, he must be a hell of a guy.

His tagline is catchy too, and very encouraging nonetheless.

As executive director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium , Horkheimer informed on his weekly program the viewer of significant astronomical events for the upcoming week, including key constellations, stars and planets, lunar eclipses and conjunctions, as well as historical and scientific information about these events since 1976. He is  internationally recognised pioneer in popularizing naked-eye astronomy.


For this a main belt asteroid (1999 FD9 orbits between the planets Mars and Jupiter) was renamed 11409 Horkheimer in his honour.

the viewer has a choice of one minute or five minute show.
