Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera
Dukacita dimaklumkan aktiviti Geminids yang cuba dianjurkan oleh FO tahun ini terpaksa DIBATALKAN atas sebab-sebab di luar kemampuan organizer... cuaca, participant kurang, etc.
LATEST:
Ada nasihat beberapa ahli FO, kita TUNGGU dan LIHAT dulu cuaca menjelang tengahari ESOK (Sabtu).
Jika Cuaca OK, kita akan bertolak ke sana.
Possible Venue option:
1. Kompleks RAKAN MUDA KAMPAR
2. Pantai Remis (Harap Din Perak dapat bagi feedback ASAP statusnya)

google google maps for kompleks rakan muda kamparclick here rescale map ie make it bigger or smaller using your mouse wheel. to get directions tekan Directions on the map best meet at Sungei Buloh R&R (utara) at 3pm cheers cheers |

GEMINID METEOR SHOWER: This week, Earth is entering a stream of debris from asteroid 3200 Phaethon, source of the mysterious Geminid meteor shower. Although the shower's peak won't come until Dec. 13th and 14th, people are already seeing a smattering of bright shooting stars. Fredrik Broms photographed this Geminid streaking over the snowy hills of Kvaløya, Norway, on Dec. 7th:
Geminid meteor rates are low now, less than 5 to 10 per hour, but they will climb ten-fold early next week when Earth passes through a denser part of the debris stream. People who go outside between midnight and sunrise on Tuesday, Dec. 14th, could count as many as 120 Geminds per hour. Urban light pollution will reduce number of visible meteors by factors of 2 to 5, so get away from city lights if you can. A rural setting is best for meteor watching.
PLAN B: Got clouds? If you can't see the Geminids, you can listen to them instead on Space Weather Radio. We're transmitting live meteor echoes from the US Air Force Space Surveillance Radar in Kickapoo, Texas.

Worth the trip to Kampar. Night sky was nice with minimal light pollution from the house & street lights nearby. At some point the sky was clear, which made it clear for the sighting of the meteors, not to mention the constellations which is nowhere to be found in the KL skies.....
Thanks to everybody who have been involved in sharing the experience. Will post the startrails images once it is ready.

Yes it was a worthy trip after all.
Dari KL petang semalam, mendung dan hujan lebat di RnR Tapah.
Eventually bila sampai ke Pusat Rakan Muda Kampar, langit masih cloudy tapi sebelah western mula pecah-pecah nampak sun pillars.
Lepas maghrib makin tebal pulak!
Detail laporan lepas hilang ngantuk.
In Summary, overall superb sky between 11.30PM - 5.30AM, on and off with clouds and haze.
Meteor count = 54.
Good dark site. Possible another activity coming soon.
