Lepas ni kne beli satu 12V adapter utk camera tu. Tak sampai RM20 pun sepatutnya kat kedai hardware. Pasni bleh shoot trails lagi panjang.

Thanks all! Smiley

OK this is how I captured this startrail:

Camera used: Canon Powershot A550 with CHDK 1.00c firmware (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK).

CHDK script used: Ultra Intervalometer (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/UBASIC/Scripts:_Ultra_Intervalometer)

49 x 30 seconds.

Camera settings:
Manual mode
No timer set (taken care by the script)
ISO HIGH

CHDK settings:
Shutter speed = 30 seconds
Subject distance = 65535 mm (maximum)

RAW settings:
Noise reduction = off

Script settings:
Delay before 1st shot = 5 seconds
Number of shots = 50 (eventually 49 are used)
Interval between shots = 1 second

Processing:
Startrails by http://startrails.de/.
Color levels processing via GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/).

Took with LCD display off to reduce battery usage.

I should also turn off post-shoot preview mode to further reduce battery consumption and to decrease delay between shots.

Good to know. I think you can still improve by:
1. getting a DC power adapter for longer trails. ( I think you can simply modify a small acid battery to power the camera. Good DIY project. Just dont forget to put a fuse)
2. do a few dark frames for a cleaner image
3. optional - Better tripod. But the tripod (entire setup actually) u were using was very stealthy indeed. A good thing to consider when doing a startrails shot.

I'm getting a camera with a DIGIC 4 this weekend. I guess I'll wait till it can be executed on DIGIC 4 cameras.

Not really. more like complimenting one another and a new addition to the existing family tree. Plus, when it's free, they're always a welcome regardless of their heritage/ancestory.

Nikon will always be my fav cos the ease of their control and button layout. I'm just not use to having my thumb rubbing my cheeks everytime i want to change the apeture. however, i do have to admit Canon does bring more bang for the buck in the wealth of features the new(pesent) cameras carry.
