Ya, unguided. Luckily the tracking is ok during the 97 seconds of exposure... Thank you to Redzuan who borrow his powerful WO Megrez 90 APO for this shot.

Bukan ke sistem ni dah lama dilaksanakan? Hehehe.... Bukan barter, cuma pinjam meminjam... sambil pinjamkan scope, William pun ajar basic of Iris. Sambil2 proses gambar lain, ni single shot curve enhanced in Canon DPP. Apa pandangan anda? Rasanya boleh overexpose M8 kalau ada 'lens' dgn focal length 500-600mm F1.8-2.0. Kan... 30s is more than enough!

Nicely done. 1. The dark rifts came out much clearer. 2. The Sagittarius Star Cloud also I Like .. my favourite spot.. target for mosaic 3. Swan Nebula sipi-sipi nak terkeluar frame, but surprise can easily see its shape. 4. Lagoon and Trifid, what else to say.. came out nicely! But why go looking for 500-600mm 'lens' when you already have WO 90?

Observing amateur are usually much more concerned about a telescope’s light gathering ability and its ability to resolve fine details, both of which depend on aperture. A 6-inch scope has four times the light gathering ability of a 3-inch scope, so it will pick out many more faint galaxies and nebulae than the smaller instrument. But “bigger is better” heavier and more costly too. When you are talking astrophotography you talk in focal ratio the ratio between the focal length and the aperture (diameter) of a telescope/lense is called the f /number; the faster the telescope/lenses the shorter is the exposure time .The smaller the f /number, the more light is let in. Fast lenses start around f /2.0, and the light let in goes as the inverse square. Compared to f /2.0, f /1.4 lets in twice as much light, f /1.0 four times. so for the case of Omega Centauri globular cluster taken by universe24 EOS350D, ISO800, 97s WO 90 APO, FL: 619mm Single shot ie a f/6.9. if using a f/2 the image could have been shot at 8sec at ISO 800. no need for EQ mount. Alt-Azimuth mount would be OK. if use EQ mount no need for guiding. off course a f/2 would weigh 15kg compared to 3kg for the WO at f/6.9. I would not want to hand carry it; for short distance maybe. Don't want to get hernia. Ahem.. a Paradigm Shift is required lah. Out of curiosity check the prizes and weight of a 200mm f/2 and a 200mm f/2.8 here and hereBTW I have a f/2.0 , 560mm manual focus lah and a autofocus 500mm f/4. a slight crop will be sufficient for FOV similar to the WO APO 90 cheers

a slight crop will be sufficient for FOV similar to the WO APO 90 The WO not as fast and flat. Will try a few primes under 200mm in the near future. to test instant setup possible. Here are single frames enhanced in DPP and CS3. still figuring out an output that is pleasing from stacking. Will post those ones mastered and satisfied... But for the time being... The Milky Way Galactic Center with a few Messier Objects in it. (24mm F2. The prominent constellation from down under. Southern Cross. (85mm F2) Scorpio Claws. The head, claw and heart of scorpio. Accompanied by M4 and M80 on the side. (85mm F2) The tail of scorpio hooks on to the Milky Way with M6 & M7 at the end. (85mm F2) Do wait for Mr Universe's superb image of M8 with the WO 90 & 350D. Entice him a little to share...

Redzuan, what a big harvest you got there. What is the problem on stacking? Too many stars for DSS to process?
