Hi all,

Very sad to see Pentax also given up in the astronomy market.

Those discontinued products are:
PENTAX 150SDP
PENTAX 125SDP
PENTAX 105SDP
PENTAX 100SDUF II
PENTAX 75SDHF
and also specific large aperture telescope system

Good bye Pentax.

Borg's new partner is....Pentax Japan.  afro

Their first model is 125SD lightest OTA in its class and modular design for easy airline transport  grin

Yeah, almost forget Pentax is partner of Borg now...so we should looking at Borg scope as Pentax scope as well...Huh Very subjective...

certainly not a telecsope for beginners.

Like the Taks you have to know what you  are going to use the telescope for before buying.

For total solar eclipse, portability is not the only concern. Focal length of telescope also important. My advise is no longer than 600mm focal length of a telescope to be use for total solar eclipse.

Unless, if someone targeted only the chromosphere & prominences during totality. Then focal length longer than 600mm can be use and yet....not longer than 1,500mm and will not manage to get the outer corona.
