he he...just my 2 cents.

the sun moves 360/24=15 deg per hour. Di KL the first contact is 4.30 pm and the eclipse goes until sunset, a period of about 3 hours. in 3 hours the sun will traverse the diagonal of the 450D sensor so orient the camera in this direction, I believe potrait mode will do.. From the exif your focal length is set to 34mm correspond to 54mm in the full frame. From the canon lens book the diagonal angle of view for the 50mm lense is 46 deg; a bit tight but you just made it, maybe for comfort I would go for 28mm setting on the kit lense so set the camera on the tripod and trigger the shutter every 10 minutes to give a seperation of 5 sun diameters between shots and then use PhotoShop to merge the 18 shots of the moving sun to give the multi exposure effect. The problem is where to point the camera at the beginning if you want the image of the annular ring in the center. That I leave it to you. Sifus please share your thoughts. cheers

En.Aziz, bukan ke kita boleh just merge and make a 'multiple' exposure potrait of the solar disk travessing across the 'frame' using PS, and not to worry much about finding the suitable beginning and end position of the sun? .. ni cara orang malas la kot..

Kita tak boleh just merge and make "multi-exposure" tu.

we can make use of the fact that the stars(which the sun is) appear to drift west four minutes earlier each night/day to determine the position of the sun today knowing fully where where it was yesterday relative to say a building or a tree.. eg If a star is say north at 8pm tonight, it will be north four minutes earlier tomorrow night, two hours earlier in a month. In 6 months it will be north at 8am! Try play2 with the latest stellarium by looking west at the sun and moon too and change the date to next month. You see sun jump forward. Try to simulate the solar eclipse whilst you at it so had you been preparing your self to photograph the sun like the folks at planetarium negara you would know where the sun is weeks ago (in fact they ask permission to remove a particular branch which is in the way of the eclipse but it was not entertained) and can then predict where it will be on the 26th at 4pm onwards. cheers
