After having my mallincam video camera for a couple of months,  Sifu Shah of FO agreed to use it for  public outreach at gopeng. The video output can be enjoyed by a small crowd simultaneously. You can point out aspects of the viewed object, right on the screen, rather than trying to describe it while they look through an eyepiece one at a time.

We did not managed to get a video projector so I used my 7 inch DVD unit as display.

this is what they saw in colour off course.

That said, it does not compete with the expensive DSLR or CCD imagers for final image quality. But that's not its intended purpose, of course.

Although it produces a 640X480 pixels picture, the ease and speed of image acquisition means it is possible to do an imaging  Messier Marathon.

That is a possible project at the next dark sky gathering. grin

cheers

Just to add.. that photo was taken using the 80mm Equinox..

A few things we should take note..

1. Alignment should be done WITH the MC and not otherwise. I've done that with my LX90 f/10 and it works great. Inaccurate GoTo during the night might be because of that in particular (keluar masuk eyepiece and MC) , and definitely because suasana tak begitu condusive todo proper alignment (cables lying around, nyamuk, semut api etc)
2. Overall setup must be done during daytime. Save a lot of hassle, and can susun atur the wires and cables properly.
3. With MC on the 80mm, I think we still need at least a red-dot finder to assist during alignment and GoTo.
