ahem....questions

looking at the GPSUB black box sitting on the white DC101 power supply then why is the RS323 mount H/C cable is connected to it by a USB?

another question is 12v feed for the mount comes from the DC101 power supply-of course this is possible but here it comes from the black box a passive device

the ST4 autoguider port is not connected

off course the dew heaters on the two telescopes are not connected

this need further reading... grin

cheers

maaf sifu shah. mungkin OT tapi agak seakan

Canon meperkenalkan dari 40D,50D,keatas  Mode C1, C2 dan C3

sangat berguna untuk astrophotography especially dalam gelap.

This allows me to set almost all camera settings right with just one button. You set the camera in M mode and set all the settings the way you want them. Then you go to the 7th menu -> Camera User Settings -> Register: choose which off the custom setting should become your Astro setting. If you need to make a little change, you can start from the Custom setting, make the change and overwrite it. I find this one of the best additions to the 40D!

I am bored so I'm going through all the menus and set my settings :

Selectable on the top LCD:
- T: 2sec for C1 and bulb for C3
- A: f/4 (if a lens is present)
- Metering Mode: evaluative (not that important, but handy when taking flats)
- White Balance:Auto
- Auto Focus: One Shot
- Drive: continuous L
- ISO: H (3200) for C1 and 800 for C3
- Flash Compensation: 0 (you really shouldn't need this )

Menu settings:
Menu 1:
- Quality: Raw (you may like to use one of the Raw + Jpeg settings if you like easier review of subs)
- Red Eye: off (no flash...)
- Beep: off
- Shoot w/o Card: off
- review time: off (no need to blind everyone in the area after an exposure)

Menu 2:
- AEB: default
- White Balance: AWB
- Custom WB: default
- WB Shift/BKT: default
- Color Space: sRGB for C1 and RGB for C3
- Picture Style: standard

Menu 3:
Everything: default

Menu 4:
- Highlight Alert: Enable
- Autofocus Display: Enable (I almost always use the center focus point...)
- Histogram: RGB
- Autoplay: default

Menu 5:
- Auto Power Off: 8 minutes (longer than the longest intervals between exposures, but it will turn off after I leave it to take darks and go to bed)
- File Numbering: whatever you like...
- Auto Rotate: Off (makes reviewing long series of images easier, sometimes orientation changes)
- Info Button: default
- Format: don't until you backed up the images

Menu 6:
- LCD brightness: 1 (no need to blind yourself or everyone in the area)
- Date/Time: default
- Language: English
- Video System: PAL
- Sensor Cleaning: default
- Live View: enable, grid: off, silent mode: default, metering timer: 4s
- Flash control: disable

Menu 7:
- Camera User settings: you use this to save all these settings...
- Clear all Camera Settings: CANCEL
- Firmware: still using the one that came with it...

Menu 8: Custom Functions
1) Exposure
1.1 Exposure level increments: 1/3rd
1.2 ISO speed increments: full stop - the intermediate 1/3rd stops are software generated and not recommended for AP!!
1.3 ISO expansion: on (ISO 3200 is usefull when focusing and checking framing)
1.4-7 default
2) Image
2.1 Long Exposure noise reduction: off
2.2 High ISO noise reduction: off
2.3 Highlight Tone Priority: off
3) Auto Focus/Drive
3.5 AF-assist beam firing: off (to help fellow astrophotographers retain their night vision)
3.7 Mirror Lock Up: off (no need for it with my mount/telescopes)
3.all others: default
4) Operation/Others
4. default

Menu 9:
Very handy... Put some settings here you use often: Quality, Mirror Lock Up, ...

Lastly Register this to C1. Surely image is noisy but it help you in 2 sec frame the picture and

I have C3 set for normal imaging. ISO 800, f/2.8, Bulb,2 sec delay, etc

This way there is no fumbling in the dark set up is right. Use C1  for framing and when satisfied fully rotate to C3 and shoot. Your night vision is something to be guarded and this little trick helps.

Refer pg 165 of the Canon 40D manual

cheers

Errrr....I thought you have given  away this equipment  grin

What make a good refractor.

One with a strong tube but lightweight.

One with a good focusser, the star don't move when you focus it only get blurry sebelum jadi satu titek.

One with good eyepiece holder

One with good optics(kanta) free from CA(chromatic aberration), spherical aberration, astigmatism, coma

untuk makna dan apa benda tu baca disini

Boleh tambah lah sifu2

cheers
