Wilson,
I think you missed sagittarius in your image. Instead, I saw centaurus and crux.
Anyway, it was a great image considering that you'd it taken via compact camera.
BTW, I was in Miri. I was wondering if I met you there.
I was there to give a series of talks in SMK Lutong, SMK Bekenu and Pustaka Miri. Also held a sidewalk observation at the petro museum. I am now about to board the plane from KL to Penang.

haha...i wrongly put the name of the constellation...should be centaurus. ya i had been there and i know u  ....but don't know u notice or not... yesterday i was there at petroleum museum, a guy in white t-shirt, with his gf because u r busy explaining to the other tall guy, so i dint disturb u la... and then i back quite early...because the sky condition not good then... quite a lost dint talk to you....hehe u remember me? |

Imej kali ini ialah Messier 45, Gugusan Bintang Pleiades. Pada pendapat saya, objek ini adalah objek mata kasar yang paling cantik sekali di langit malam. Kalau tengok guna binokular atau low powered teleskop lagi cantik. Teleskop yg saya guna seperti biasa ialah William Optics ZS66SD jenis refractor, menggunakan mount Nexstar 6SE GOTO (saya cabut SCT 6" tu, ganti dgn WO ZS66SD). Teleskop ni focal lengthnya sederhana ~388mm, jadi field rotation tak seberapa berbanding dgn SCT 6" yg mempunyai focal length 1200mm. Jadi tak guna equatorial mount pun masih boleh.
Imej ni adalah hasil dari gabungan ~300 frame, setiap frame exposed for 30s pada ISO800. Kalau expose lama sikit (> 1 minit), nebulosity yg dapat dirakam mesti lebih besar dan lebih detail, tapi kerana saya menggunakan Alt-Azimuth mount, saya terhad kepada 30s (kalau lebih star trail pulak).

abg botok, nak tanya satu soalan.. yesterday i took a few pics and wanna process them using IRIS.. but there are some problems while processing the pics... for example, during stellar registering, a message pop up says: matching error: only 4 stars in list(s), require at least 6" & "WARNING: impossible to register the image..."

is it because the pics got not enough star to be recognize? because i took the pics using same ISO and shutter speed...

oooo... ye ke. sorry la. bukan aper... pada suatu ketike dulu, ade tertengok video about how to make planisphere. sebelum ni, masih terkapai-kapai nak belajar guna bende ni. lepas tengok video tu, baru jelas sikit cara penggunaannya. kalau ditakdirkan awk kerje kat situ, i just want give my compliment to the video maker p/s: BTW, keep sending some awesome picture of yours......  thanks for ur compliment... anyway i already re-process my orion pic using IRIS (teknik yang abg botok ajar)..the result is very nice.. not yet upload...will post it here later ... abg botok, boleh ajar lagi macam mana nak stack gambar bersama dengan dark frame, offset.. haha tak sabar lagi nak cuba teknik advanced dengan menggunakan IRIS..  |

Saya tak tahu build mana yang wilsontie guna? Saya guna build allbest ( http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,102.0.html) yang sekarang dikira build yang paling lengkap semua features kecuali stereo data features jer belum porting masuk dalam build. Kalau u guna allbest, pergi ke menu dan pilih Extra Photo Operations kemudian Override shutter speed. Cara penggunaan menggunakan faktor. Contoh kalau u tengok under Extra Photo Operations menu Override shutter speeds [ 1]
Value factor [ 10]
yang di atas nilai shutter speed = 10 saat. (shutter speed) 1 x (value factor) 10 = 10 saat. Override shutter speeds [ 6]
Value factor [ 10]
ini untuk setting kepada 60 saat. Ingat, keluar dari menu dan set kan kamera kepada manual atau shutter priority kemudian shoot. Buat masa ni keupayaan shutter speed adalah antara 1/65,000 saat hingga 65 saat. Tunggu nanti mesti ada programmer decode firmware lebih mendalam mesti jumpa lagi tinggi. Tapi pendapat saya, dah sampai limit kamera dah tu.  ya i also use allbest for S3 IS. but i cant find " Extra Photo Operations kemudian Override shutter speed" in my main menu. My main menu are like this: -RAW parameters -OSD parameters -Histogram parameters -Zebra parameters -Scripting parameters -Visual settings -Misc. stuff -Debug parameters -Reset option to default so, how ar? i dont know which option i need to activate i go through the website already...but still cant catch it hope that u can help me to figure out...thanks!!! Kebetulan pulak tengah cerita pasal point and shoot camera saya ni takleh nak off noise reduction, guess what have i found... a firmware hack for selected Canon point and shoot camera... and the good news is the firmware is not a permanent hack (which is quite scary if you ever experienced a firmware update crash before... botak kepala tarik rambut nanti) but you can load it into your SD card and you can choose to up the hacked firmware or original one. CHDK is a firmware enhancement that operates on a number of Canon Cameras. CHDK gets loaded into your camera's memory upon bootup (either manually or automatically). It provides additional functionality beyond that currently provided by the native camera firmware.
CHDK is not a permanent firmware upgrade: you decide how it is loaded (manually or automatically) and you can always easily remove it.
Please see the FAQ and the Firmware Usage page, as well as other pages on this wiki, for more specifics on supported cameras, details of features, scripting, downloading, etc.
A sampling of those additional features/functionality.
Main features:
* Save images in RAW format
* Ability to run "Scripts" to automate the camera
* Live histogram (RGB, blended, luminance and for each RGB channel)
* Zebra mode (blinking highlights and shadows to show over/under exposed areas)

Why would I want to use CHDK?
* To get Raw file capability on cameras that don't have that ability

* you want or need any of the other enhancement features that CHDK provides
