Hi all, This idea came up when I am having some discussion with mymoon. I decided to have a stargazing & astrophotography session on 09 Aug 2008, Saturday, 8:30pm at Kuala Kubu Bahru Water Dam Car Park. The main purpose of this activity is to take astrophotograph using simple equipment setup. Such as a camera tripod + DSLR + wide angle lens. We'll shot some star trails picture and share it in falak online here. We will going to watch any early Perseid meteor also. For those who interested. You can bring various kind of camera/ imaging system. Generally, equatorial mount is not allow to be use to take astrophoto that night. If someone bring an equatorial mount, only for visual observation. Alright, if anyone have any question, please ask here and my "secretary" - Mymoon will try to answer you question. Here's a list of items you may find useful when photographing the night sky.

Flashlight - Use a red filter (Your eyes and your friends will thank you).
Note pad and pencil - Record your exposure times, Fstop settings, Date/Times, etc...
Mosquito repellent - I have but one word - "Mosquitoes".
Coffee or Hot Choc/mineral water - It makes nights a little easier to handle.
Clothing with Pockets - Very useful when you need free hands.
Spare Battery - your camera needs one to operate
Camera Bag - Especially useful if you use more than one lens and to carry you remote shutter release.
Caution: Mosquito repellent buy the herbal type. The chemical type especially DEET will eat the plastic of your cameras.

Oh sorry  . Forgot to mention the meeting place before heading to Kuala Kubu Bahru....thanks to my secretary.... I was thinking of using Ulu Yam road to Kuala Kubu Bahru. There is a road from Ulu Yam to Batang Kali, and from Batang Kali to Kuala Kubu Bahru. For convenient, we meet at the usual place which is the Petronas Station along the way to Ulu Yam.... What do you guys think? |

Hi Shah,
Sorry that I should inform you first before any activity post here. Yes, sure you can announce it to falak online main page.
To all interested friends and new comer, we will meet there about 8:30pm. Then we take about 45 mins from Ulu Yam to Kuala Kubu Bahru.
The Petronas station is the one before the junction to go to Ulu Yam P2.
Please be note that there got another team - StarFinder doing stargazing at Ulu Yam P2. So please don't mix up. We are going to Kuala Kubu Bahru for simple astrophotography + regular stargazing + Early Perseid Meteor observation.

Kuala Kubu bharu
ok, aktiviti ni nak join jugak, bulan 8 sebelum puasa, elok gak,
Ulu Yam, tempat karaoke dah takde,
ada gak kekurangan bila takde karaoke tu,
tempat mesti jadi sunyi, susah gak,

InsyaAllah saya akan join sekali.. nak belajar astrofografi... hehe, tak pun nk pulun kemampuan Mallincam habis-habisan.. william or abg aziz, ada tak gambar suasana kawasan empangan tu? |

lagi bacaan untuk kalian yang baru nak berjinak2 dengan visual astronomy; nama glamour untuk stargazing Let's Go Stargazing guidesky charts are free. using firefox browser and click here . just change to firstly your location and follow the instruction lah. on the DATE & TIME play with the +/- buttons for month, date and time. cheers |
